This song is very old. To the best of my knowledge it predates The Nods, though I think The Nods where the first to play it. At the time I was taking a lot of pressure from my family on the subject of what I needed to do with my future and what was in my best interest. There advice was sounding more like orders. WORK HARD! SUCCEED! FIND A WIFE, HAVE KIDS, BUY A HOUSE, NEVER LEAVE THE STATE, NEVER TRAVEL THE WORLD. GIVE YOUR LIFE TO YOUR FAMILY! I didn't agree with this. I wanted to travel, play in a band and see the world......take the road less traveled. So I wrote this song to vent my frustrations
This life is not for me. I don't want to be. So fucking ordinary.
Sit around, watch tv. I don't want to be. So fucking ordinary
so fucking ordinary, this burden that we carry.
I don't want to be, so fucking ordinary
buy a big house get married, I don't want to lead an ordinary life
Ordinary life
work hard every day. run your credit up. That's the American way.
try hard, to fit into society, and be so ordinary
so fucking ordinary, this burden that we carry.
I don't want to be so fucking ordinary
buy a big house, get married
I don't want to lead an ordinary life
ordinary life
And its so easy to be. what they all want you to be
can I change anything. Is there hope for me? Is there hope for me!
